Afton Central Adult and Continuing Education Program (TASC)™
Afton Central School Adult and
Continuing Education Program
Afton Central School's Adult and Continuing Education program offers free GED adult basic education and high school equivalency preparation classes at many locations throughout Delaware and Chenango counties. Classes are small in size and are taught by New York State certified teachers. Students are assessed in reading and math and then an individualized course of study is designed to meet the students' needs. Students work at their own pace on materials provided by the program free of charge. The program may be joined at any time. Afton Adult and Continuing Education program also offers a home study preparation program known as GRASP (Giving Ready Adults a Study Program). This program is available to students who are 21 years of age or older and who possess adequate reading skills to work independently. Students are first tested to assess reading and math levels. Then, appropriate materials are sent to the student's home every two weeks. The students work in the review books on their own, at their own pace, and return completed assignments to the program every two weeks. There is an additional distant learning program, SMART, for adults with low reading and math skills.
