Afton Alumni, Troy Lupo-Mack, Afton Graduate (Class of 2006) recently he received the honor of carrying former President Jimmy Carter's casket for his funeral service held at Washington National Cathedral on January 9, 2025.
Troy has earned many honors leading up to this momentous occasion, He graduated Afton Central School in 2006 and from the University of Albany in 2011 Cum Laude majoring in Criminal Justice and Minoring in History. He enlisted in the US Coast Guard in 2014. From 2014-2016 he focused on Counter Terrorism and Narcotics, serving as a seaman on board a 378 Coast Guard Response Cutter and a 45' Small boat Station. Later, he transferred to Corpus Christi Texas and worked in Aviation Search and Rescue in an MH-65 Helicopter as a Petty Officer Third Class AMT. He was promoted to Petty Officer Second Class AMT and continued his work in Aviation Search and Rescue and Presidential Airspace Aircraft Intercept with MH-65 at Atlantic City New Jersey. Since 2023, he was selected for the Coast was selected for the Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard as a Non-commissioned Officer, Petty Officer First Class representing the commandant, the military District of Washington and the United States Coast Guard through Ceremonial Operations held before World Leaders and Dignitaries.
