11th Graders in US History Classes Visit NYS Museum in Albany

On March 12th,, the Juniors went on a field trip to Albany to visit the New York State Museum. The students had a special hands-on presentation about life in New York City tenements and the immigrant experience. This goes along with the topic they are studying called the Gilded Age. The Gilded Age is when there were a few rich people, but almost everyone else was poor. As one student pointed out today, “Gold on a pile of garbage.”
The museum has an exhibit with artifacts from 9/11, a mastodon skeleton, and a portion of a real Iroquois longhouse. The NYS Museum has free admission and is a favorite destination for field trips! Many local teachers remember going there when they were students.
