Hello, Afton Community! Here are the shoutouts from our teachers for our students! Tabitha Charette: For exceptional growth in writing. Received the Highest grade for her Quarterly Writing Assessment. Donald Klee: For all his hard work in Algebra I. Angel Serrano Jr.: He spent time trying to fix something that was broken for a classmate because he knew it was important to them. Finn McGraw: Tried to help fix something that was broken for another student. Jordan Phillips: For helping a student in Spanish class with the work that they were struggling with. Jaylee Kehoe: For helping a student in Spanish class with the work that they were struggling with. Alex Brett: For always trying to actively use Spanish in class. The Yearbook Staff: They are working hard to get the yearbook off to a great start and are always willing to ask what else needs to get done. Emilie Davis - She always says hi with a smile every time that I see her. It makes my day better. Gracias Emilie! Tyra S.: For advocating for her fellow honor roll achievers! The ACS Drama Club will be performing The Wizard of Oz: Young Performer’s Edition on December 16th and 17th at 7pm in the Margery Secrest Auditorium. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door and will be $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors.

Attention winter sports parents/guardians: Indoor Track, Wrestling, Bowling and Basketball for JV and Varsity teams will begin Monday, November 14, 2022. All players must have an up to date physical and required paperwork to begin practice. There will be a shuttle provided by Harpursville that will pick up in Afton, travel to Harpursville and then to Bainbridge for modified volleyball, bowling, wrestling and indoor track practices. Basketball practices will be held in Afton. There will be a shuttle provided by Afton back after all of the off-site practices. (practices end at 5:00 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.) E.T.A. 5:30-5:45. Opening Week practice schedule. Coaches will be giving athletes the following weeks schedule at the end of the week. Basketball practice times for Monday 11/14, Tuesday 11/15 and Friday 11/17. JV girls 2:30-4:30. JV & Varsity boys 4:30-6:30. Wednesday 11/16 and Thursday 11/17 JV and varsity boys 2:30-4:30 and JV girls 4:30-6:30. Bowling practice will be Monday 11/14, Tuesday 11/15, and Wednesday 11/16 3:15-5:00 (5:15). Indoor Track and wrestling will be from 3:15-5:00 (5:15) Monday through Friday.

We got confirmation that Harpursville will provide our beginning shuttle starting Monday 11/14. We will provide the end of day shuttle back. The shuttle will pick up in Afton, go to Harpursville(volleyball), go to the bowling alley, BG elementary school (wrestling) and then high school (track).

Emily Palmatier: For working so hard to keep up in all of her classes and having a positive attitude! All 6th grade students: They are a pleasure to work with! Abbey Paoletti for her caring about others well-being during STEM. Thomas Reeder: For taking down the chairs for others during homeroom. The students were really appreciative. Grace Roberts for her participation in math class. Natalie Allweiler for volunteering to read and find the gist of the paragraphs that we are reading. Mason Lans: For volunteering to read and find the gist of our paragraphs that we were reading and for getting all of his work caught up after being out of school. Damien Nickerson: For always being helpful and kind Jenna Wilson: For helping organize students work. Abbey Paoletti: For helping organize students' work Carina Condon: For being a positive influence on others. Silas Greenman: For his awesome participation in ELA discussion and analysis. Afton students at the Lackawanna Coal Mine in Scranton, PA! Students had a great time learning about the coal industry! Our students learned that children as young as five had to work in the mines! We are so fortunate to have this piece of local history to learn about.

Hello, Afton Community! Boys Varsity and JV basketball open gym will take place on Thursday the 10th from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. and Saturday the 12th from 10:00 p.m. - 12:00 p.m. JV Girls Basketball will be having an open gym 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday the 9th.
